In a remarkable act of devotion, Sri Kalyana Apparao, president of the Sri Krishna Chaitanya Sangham from Korukonda in East Godavari district, presented one crore 'Goti Talambralu'—turmeric-coated rice pearls—to the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Vontimitta, Andhra Pradesh, ahead of the celestial wedding ceremony of Lord Rama and Sita. This sacred offering, weighing approximately 120 kilograms, was handed over to temple authorities in the presence of Superintendent Hanumanthaiah and priest Shravan Kumar.
The preparation of these 'Talambralu' is a meticulous and devotional process. Specially cultivated rice is dehusked manually by devotees using their fingernails, a practice symbolizing purity and dedication. This year, the endeavor involved participants from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and Delhi, who collectively spent three months preparing the rice pearls.

Sri Kalyana Apparao has been making such offerings for over a decade, providing 'Talambralu' to the Bhadrachalam Sri Rama Temple for 13 years and to the Vontimitta temple for the past seven years. The 'Sita Rama Kalyanam' at Vontimitta is a significant event, drawing thousands of devotees annually to witness the divine wedding ceremony.
The tradition of offering 'Goti Talambralu' holds profound spiritual significance in South Indian culture, representing the devotee's unwavering commitment and love for the deities. Such acts of devotion not only enrich the spiritual atmosphere of the temple but also inspire the community to partake in preserving and continuing these sacred traditions.
