The official trailer for the upcoming series The Better Sister on Prime Video combines murder with family drama.
Elizabeth Banks and Jessica Biel play estranged sisters Nicky Macintosh (Banks) and Chloe Taylor (Biel), who, despite leading different lives—Nicky struggles to maintain her sobriety, while Chloe leads a picturesque life with her lawyer husband Adam (Corey Stoll) and teenage son Ethan (Maxwell Acee Donovan)—must reconcile after Chloe's husband is killed. Nicky is both Ethan's birth mother and Adam's ex, which further complicates things.
at the trailer, Biel's character Chloe is shown finding a dead Adam at their house. She, Ethan, and Nicky are subsequently the focus of media attention, and Ethan is implicated in his father's murder. In the aftermath, the sisters must face a complex family history and lingering secrets while remaining together in their quest to learn the truth about Adam's death. "The terrible things that drive sisters apart and ultimately bring them back together" are the subject of the series.
"Living two lives and keeping secrets." Regarding their family, a prosecutor states, "This is what your family is about."
The novel by best-selling author Alafair Burke served as the basis for the eight-episode television series. The show, which is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Tomorrow Studios (a division of ITV Studios), also stars Bobby Naderi, Gabriel Sloyer, Gloria Reuben, Matthew Modine, and Lorraine Toussaint.
Executive producers and showrunners include Regina Corrado (Mayor of Kingstown) and Olivia Milch (Ocean's 8). In addition to executive producers Biel and Banks, Michelle Purple, Kerry Orent and Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Alissa Bachner through Tomorrow Studios, series director Craig Gillespie and Annie Marter executive produce through Fortunate Jack Productions.
On May 29, The Better Sister will make its Prime Video debut.
