For more than ten years, Keanu Reeves has played John Wick. The franchise star is now giving fans an inside look at the filmmaking process. In the documentary "Wick Is Pain," Reeves, producer/director Chad Stahelski, and producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee talk about how the 2014 movie inspired two spinoffs, two series, four sequels (a fifth was just revealed), and more.
Originally released as an indie movie, "John Wick" went on to revolutionise contemporary action cinema. The franchise is now one among the sources of inspiration for a new stunt category in the Academy Awards. Jeffrey Doe is the director, Josh Oreck, Gabriel Roth, and Matthew Sidle are the producers, and Tina Carter is the executive producer of "Wick Is Pain."
Regarding the documentary, Reeves stated, "I'm thrilled to share and be a part of taking fans behind the curtain on the extraordinary journey of making the John Wick films."
"We had an idea for a low-budget independent film," Stahelski continued. It's difficult to imagine what that notion evolved into now, almost a decade later. All of this was made possible by the movie's devoted audience, who turned all the suffering into enjoyment.
